I live today, I look ahead, I take the next step

What healed me, kids stuff, and this is it.

Healing

What healed me this week is learning about the importance of rituals. I am still employed until the end of June, and I’m still sporadically working for the company. But I am working from home a lot more, or better said, almost always. I risk spending the whole day in my pyjamas, and that is where the importance of ritual comes in to play. These rituals will also be an important part of my daily life when I am working independently. I need a clear spark to the day, and that spark should not just be coffee. I am still learning, and organically testing out different routines, but usually when I don’t have a routine, I become a bit moody, and slouch around the house.

Another thing that is clear, is that my ritual can not be too specific, since I also become a prisoner of my routines. I looooove it when everything has its place. For example, I can only work with a clean desk. Or when I cook, I need a clean kitchen. I am definitely not a cleaning fanatic, but my mind works better when things are organised. I feel better in clean spaces. Clean spaces calm my system, and help me focus on creativity, or my to do’s.

Usually you can also tell if I am in a “good place” by how tidy our home is. If I feel better, I automatically want to be in a tidy space. When I am moving through grief, or processing anger, or feeling sick, then you automatically see it in the space too.

So back to rituals, the one thing that I “miss” most about the office, is dressing up to go to work. I don’t really dress up to hang out at home, so this is something that I want to incorporate into my week. I want to look and feel good while working from home. So once in a while, I will post my home office outfits, so I that I can dress up for someone :-)

Back to rituals, at the beginning of the month I always pull cards to see what I need to work with: this month I pulled honeysuckle, and lapis lazuli!

Honey suckle: Will help me get rid of living in the past, and help me anchor into the present moment. I think these two months when I am still employed, I will be in a liminal space. I am already concentrating on my future, but I literally still feel stuck in my past. I think I can’t really move on energetically until I am no longer employed.

Honey Suckle affirmation: “ I live today. I look ahead. I take the next step.”

Lapis Lazuli: “Lapis Lazuli is a stone of self-knowledge and reflection. It helps one move out of the mundane mind and into an expanded awareness of one’s motivations and beliefs. This knowledge of self, gives one, clearer perspectives on one’s life and creations. It enables one to identify ones gifts and abilities, as well as one’s limitations and opportunities for growth.” - The book of stones, Naisha Ahsian

Lapis Lazuli affirmation: “ I claim the sovereignty and power of my highest self, and I align myself with my highest truth” - The book of stones, Naisha Ahsian.

So my ritual starts with my affirmations. I also write them down, and hang them up. I do a reiki session for me and my family (dog included) daily, I journal (always 3 pages), and now, new to my routine is dressing up. I love my daily coffee, and then I am ready to work…

Kids Stuff

I think one of my “top 20 things to do with the kids” is to read in bed… their is something so soothing about reading, story telling, and the places books can take you to. This week I want to share the book “the magical yet” by Angela DiTerlizzi with you. This book is about the magical “yet” so, whenever a child thinks that they can’t do something, they can put the magical yet by their side, and it shows them, that they just can’t do it yet, or they just don’t like it yet… for example: reading, when my son was learning how to read, he always said he can’t read, then I could always respond with you can’t read YET… or if a child says they don’t like broccoli, the magical yet comes into play, and it becomes: you don’t like broccoli YET.

My favourite quote from the book is:

AND YET KNOWS YOU WILL WHEN YOU THINK YOU WONT.
